BACK AND READY TO GO

On Wednesday I landed (Baruch Hashem) after a two-week trip in New York (joined by Rabbis Levi and Chaiton). I am physically exhausted (flight cancellation, delays, rerouting through Japan and a total of 25 hours of flying). However, I am on a high after one of the best spiritual recharges I have had in a while.

I intentionally did not post while I was there, to be fully absorbed in the experience but I would like to share some of the things I did that inspired me.

1.  I prayed and spent time by the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s graveside on the 3rd of Tamuz (30th anniversary of his passing) and then again this past Friday on my birthday. It is amazing to observe the thousands of people that came there from the full spectrum of the Jewish people. The vibe was captivating and the sense of belonging to something greater was powerful.

2.  I caught up with friends and family some of whom I haven’t seen in years. What inspired me was the realization that although we all live quite distant from each other, we are all united and focused on the same goals and spiritual journey. There is a deep connection that transcends geography.

3.  I was able to spend more time (partly with a Chavruta – study partner) learning, praying and reflecting. It reminded me that as much as physical rest and care are important, even more critical is a strong spiritual recharge occasionally. I hope that filling up my tank will strengthen my ability to give to others.

4.  I of course went shopping for Jewish books and Judaic items that are hard to get here in Australia (not so inspiring).

So next week a new BINA term begins. Here at BINA, we are very pumped and ready to roll out programs even more interesting and exciting. So pick a Shiur, podcast or WhatsApp group and join the learning and growth journey.
